Sunday 20 June WSC Vs KLUSC

The WSC men's team was back in top form on Sunday, traveling to Lightwood Park to compete against the Kingborough Lions. With regular goalie Jed P.S. still sidelined due to injury, the Woodbridge goals were guarded by Steve, then Craig and finally by a multi-skilled Jack.

Justin put in the first Woodbridge goal 16 minutes after kick-off and big brother Dale, not to be out-done, matched him 2 minutes later. Kingborough fought back, holding the score line to 2 - 0 until half-time.

The flood gates opened almost immediately in the second, Dale scoring his second and third goals in rapid succession. Jack, shortly before donning the keeper's jersey, headed in a beauty to bring the score to 5 - 0 in Woodbridge's favour. Eventually Kingborough managed to claw back a goal, a lovely and unstoppable long-shot.

With 15 minutes left on the clock, Dalles unleashed Super-Sub Jy, one of our Under 16 players who had come along in case the team was undermanned (a situation not unheard of). Within moments Jy had snaked the ball past his former coach* and scored the 6th and final goal for Woodbridge.

The whole team provided a performance that was a joy to watch. An excellent game and a great way to conclude a fantastic weekend of football.

*Jy had started the season at Kingborough, but left to join Woodbridge to avoid being repeatedly mistaken for a goalkeeper
